I Remember That Tree- A tale of friendship

 I Remember That Tree is a friendship tale of five children. The tale shows a clear picture of love and faith among the friends and indicates a sign of equality and togetherness.

The story is as follows: 

Once there were five friends name Johnny, Rahul, Avi, Kunal and Ali. They used to live in a small colony where there was a playground in the middle of the area. All five were very best of friends and their parents were also good neighbours with each other.

They all were nearly 5-6 years old when they celebrated their first friendship day. They all were tying friendship band to each other when they saw a person selling plants. They decided to plant a tree as a sign of their friendship so they went to him and asked to give a plant of a big tree. Gardener gave them a small plant of cadamba tree. They all immediately ran to the playground and plant it there. They all plant it as the symbol of their friendship.

They used to play with the plant and also cared it whole heartedly.  They all together started schooling and after school they used to come to the tree and play nearby it. They mostly spend their time around the tree. Whenever they fought, and when cool down they used to go to the tree and say sorry to each other. Infact, they used to celebrate each festival either holi or id, Christmas or Deepawali, each one together with their families. There was a strong bond of love with each other in the society. Thus all was going on very well.

Slowly slowly, time was passing away and with it they were growing day by day and their tree was also growing continuously. They used to play near the tree always whether in summer or in winter, they made tree house, they play hide and seek and an amusing moment also, when once Rahul fell down from the tree while playing as the branch he sat at, broke down and everyone laughed at him. When there were flowers and fruits on it, they enjoy them together and never allowed anyone else to touch them or came near it. Not only they but the tree also played its part in their friendship. Provided them shed and cool breeze in summers, protect them from rains in rainy days and gave them tastiest fruits and beautiful flowers in every season with sunshining warm winters.

Time passed away, all were grown up and burdened up with their own jobs and  responsibilities.  They went far away from each other. The tree with whom they used to play now became alone. Some went out of the city and some to other countries and thus no one never get the time to get back together for a while. All were busy in their own life with their own families.

After a long time, one day they get a message of their friend, Avi. The message was as follows, “Hi friends, it’s been a long time to met you all but today I need you. My mother is very sick and she wants to meet you all together in her last breathes. Your dear friend Avi.” This turned them emotional as Avi’s mother played a very important role in their life. She always played the most supporting role of their friendship, it can be said that she loves them much more than anybody else. They all decided to visit her.

They reached Avi’s house the same day; and met her. She was happy to saw them all together after such a long time. She said, “Children, how the time passed away I never came to realize, you all turned so big (with a big smile on her face) I am very happy to met you all, I thought you forgot me but see you all are here." They all were sitting near her listening her when she held their hands, "I want you to make a promise to me, never break this lovely bond of friendship, be loyal with each other. Also I think you are forgetting someone , you need to have a visit to it, go, your tree is waiting for you.” They realized the depth of time; it had been really a very long time since they all went to it together.

After that they all came out of the house, and began to look here and there to the changes that were made after them. Kunal said, “Everything is changed friends.” They slowly went to the ground. Ali said, “Yes, everything is changed but look there, our friend is still there as it was.” They all went to it. They raise their heads up and said, “I remember that tree...” and they smiled. A fast blow of air make it swirl, it is expressing its happiness and joy, like showing the love to them. Avi said, “A long time is passed away.” Johnny said, “Yes, 19 years and 7 months.” 

All were shocked to know the time gap that were made by their responsibilities. Then Kunal suddenly realized something, he said, “Hey guys, do you know what is today?” Ali, “What?” Kunal, “Today is friendship day, the day when we began our friendship and more surprisingly it’s 5th of august the day when we plant this tree and the seed of our friendship.” They all were excited and happy. They hugged each other and the tree and then they take out the thread they tied in their hands and joined it and tied it to the tree. All said together, “Happy Friendship Day dear.” and they hugged the tree together. They all had a beautiful, glowing smile on their faces.

Thus, it’s really true that everything changes with time but if the friendship is strong and true; it doesn’t.
