Story: "The Fighting Sparrows"
One autumn evening, I was on the terrace, watching the sun setting down in the west behind the clouds. I was sad and angry. I was, again and again, blaming her for that, when I saw two sparrows on a tree fighting with each other for something. While fighting they came towards me and fallen on the floor of the terrace.
I looked at them, they were fighting for an insect. Sometimes it was in one's part, sometimes in the mouth of the other. They were fighting, quarreling, and sometimes attacking with their beaks to each other. No one of them was ready to leave it. I was amazed to see that they passed half an hour fighting with each other but no one agreed. Sometimes they were at one corner of the terrace and sometimes at another.
They both were continuously fighting and fighting, but after a short while, a sparrow among them stopped. She leaves the insect and flew away to the tree again. Seeing her falling back from the ground, the other bird turns confused and she looked at the insect, she gazed at it for some time, I thought that she will be happy to win it but she opened her wings and flew away to her leaving the reward.
They both were continuously fighting, but after a short while, a sparrow from them stopped. She left the insect and flew away to the tree again. Seeing her stepping back, the other bird confused. She looked at the insect then she gazed at her for some time. I thought that she would be happy to win it but she opened her wings and flew back to her buddy leaving the reward.
I was amazed at this that a short while ago they were fighting for that small insect and hurting each other and they continued it for half an hour and now they left it and went away. I saw them sitting on the tree, chirping. Then one of them came back again, took the insect in its beak, and flew to another sparrow, where they shared it. I was surprised because just a while before they were fighting for it and now they were sharing it and having fun with each other.
Then I realized that I also did something like this. I fought with my small sister for a piece of cake. She was saying that she will eat the piece of cake that was left in the end and I was saying that I will and for that we started to quarrel. Mother said that we must share it but we didn’t agree and in the end what happened, the piece was fallen on the floor and thus none of us was able to have it. Then we both blamed each other, shouted, and went away.
She went to her room and I came on the terrace. But now I realized that I did wrong similar to those sparrows. Once they were fighting to have it alone but then they leave it so that no one fight, and get hurt and then they resolved their dispute and shared it equally. Similarly, I must do the same, we must share everything without fighting because we are siblings.
I felt guilty so I decided that I would go to her and say sorry. So I got up and moved towards the stairs. When I was going down I saw that she was also coming to me, I went to her immediately and said, “My sweet sister, please forgive me.” She said that she was sorry too. Then we both promised that we will never fight for anything and share whatever we get and we hugged each other.
Our mother was watching us from her kitchen window, she smiled and called us. She said, “My sweet children, today I am very happy and proud of you both for the beautiful lesson you have learned, the lesson of sharing. So I will give you both a reward for it, wait.” We both smiled. She brought two delicious pieces of chocolate cake. She said, “Your aunt brought this when she visited, but then you both quarreled with each other, that’s why I didn’t give it to you, but now you both deserve it totally, so enjoy.”
We both hugged our mother, said sorry to her, and thanked her. Then we took the plate of cake and went outside in the garden and sat down on the chairs. We both were enjoying the cake when I saw those sparrows chirping on the tree. We all were happy.
"Sharing is always good, as it increases our love and care for each other."
